Live in New York City is a live album by John Lennon. The posthumously released album was recorded at the August 30, 1972 at Madison Square Garden in New York City One to One charity concert by him. The proceeds of the event went to children with disabilities ( Willow Brook House). John Lennon and Yoko Ono were supported musically by the band Elephant 's Memory. The concert was the last concert of their own Lennon.

Formation

On August 30, 1972 John Lennon and Yoko Ono wanted to give an evening concert with the other artists Stevie Wonder, Sha -Na -Na and Roberta Flack, but due to the large demand for tickets was another concert in the afternoon of the same day stated. Both concerts were recorded and filmed. The evening concert was broadcast on U.S. television (ABC). Only in 1986 were the recordings, mainly the afternoon concert, as LP / CD and video cassette releases. The remixed the audio recording was made by Rob Stevens, as a producer Yoko Ono was performed. The video recordings included two additional tracks by Yoko Ono: Born in a Prison and Sister Sister o and a longer version of Give Peace a Chance. Were not published, the Yoko Ono - title Move on Fast and Open Your Box. Three more shots of the evening concert were on the John Lennon Anthology box set released (It's so hard, Woman Is the Nigger of the World and Come Together).

Publication

In the U.S., the album was ranked number 41 in the UK and number 55 in Germany number 65 in the charts. The CD release was in April 1986 and has so far not new remastered. The video recordings of the concert have not been published in legal form on DVD.

Single release

In the U.S., a 12 " promotional single ( Imagine ( Live) / Come Together (Live) ) was distributed to radio stations, but which is not published as a regular purchase single.
