Menlove Ave. is the title of a compilation album of John Lennon, which so far contains previously unreleased recordings from the years 1973 to 1974. John Lennon lived in his childhood in Liverpool with his Aunt Mimi and Uncle George in the street with the name " Menlove Avenue " (number 251).

In November 1986, EMI released the following previously unreleased recordings that are listed here in chronological order:

Rock and Roll People:

The recording took place in early August 1973 during the sessions for the album Mind Games. This track was recorded by Johnny Winter as a cover for his album John Dawson Winter III and published in 1976.

Here We Go Again, Angel Baby, Since My Baby Left Me and To Know Her Is to Love Her:

These four tracks come from sessions with producer Phil Spector for the album Rock ' n' Roll, which took place in October-December 1973 in the A & M Studios ( Hollywood) and the Record Plant West Studios (Los Angeles ). Angel Baby was already on the album John Lennon Sings the Great Rock & Roll Hits - Roots published. The 1986 version but was again re-mixed by Roy Cicala. The other tracks were remixed by Rob Stevens. Angel Baby, Since My Baby Left Me and To Know Her Is to Love Her were published in 2004 as bonus tracks on the album Rock ' n ' roll again. Here We Go Again is a joint composition by John Lennon and Phil Spector.

Steel and Glass, Scared, Old Dirt Road, Nobody Loves You ( When You're Down and Out ) and Bless You:

On July 13, 1974 were test shots in the Record Plant East Studios in New York City for the album Walls and Bridges instead; of these recordings, these five titles were selected by Yoko Ono. The sessions were held in the following line instead: John Lennon (vocals, guitar and piano), Jim Keltner (drums), Jesse Ed Davis ( guitar) and Klaus Voormann ( bass). The recordings were kept minimalistic in contrast to the published versions, partly also varied the sung texts.

The cover artwork was designed by Andy Warhol.

Publication

In the U.S., the album space 147 in the charts in the UK and Germany reached could not place the album. There was no decoupled single from the album. The first released in CD format in April 1987. The CD release from 1987 has not yet been newly remastered.

Single release

In the U.S., a 12 " promotional single ( Rock and Roll People / Rock and Roll People) was distributed to radio stations, but which is not published as a regular purchase single.
