Shaved Fish is the title of the first compilation album of John Lennon after the breakup of the Beatles and also the only one that has been published before his death.
Genesis
In October 1975 EMI released a compilation album of John Lennon; the following month was followed by a compilation album by Ringo Starr ( Blast from Your Past ) and again one year later ( November 1976) was followed by The Best of George Harrison. The three ex- Beatles did not extend their contract with EMI and released their respective next studio album with another record company / label. The compilation includes all hitherto published U.S. singles exclusively Stand by Me The following titles have been edited specifically for the album (shortened): Give Peace a Chance (on 58 seconds cut ), Instant Karma! ( We All Shine On ), Mother, Power to the People, Woman Is the Nigger of the World and Whatever Gets You Thru the Night. At Happy Xmas (War Is Over ) and Give Peace a Chance (Reprise) is a medley. It consists of the abbreviated studio version of Happy Xmas (War Is Over) in the live version of Give Peace a Chance, which was recorded on 30 August 1972 passes.
Publication
In the U.S., the album was ranked number 12 in the UK number eight in the charts in Germany could not place the album.
The first released in CD format in May 1987. The CD release from 1987 has not yet been newly remastered.
Single release
Being single was Imagine / Working Class Hero decoupled in October 1975 from the album ( UK: 6th place, Germany: # 46, not published in the U.S.).
