Blast from Your Past is the fifth album and the first compilation album by Ringo Starr after the breakup of the Beatles. It was on 12 December 1975 in the UK (USA: November 20, 1975) published. In the U.S., the album reached # 30 in the UK and in Germany it could not be placed in the charts.

Genesis

In October 1975 EMI released a compilation album titled Shaved Fish by John Lennon; the following month was followed by the compilation album by Ringo Starr Blast From Your Past and again appeared a year later in November 1976 The Best of George Harrison. The three ex- Beatles did not renew their contract with EMI and released their respective next studio album with another record company / label. The compilation includes all hitherto published U.S. Singles only ( It's All Da-Da - Down To ) Goodnight Vienna. Snookeroo is the only non- contained single A - side from the UK. The compilation album thus includes seven U.S. top ten hits and four Top Ten hits from the UK. In addition, the album containing the song early in 1970 contains a single B-side of It Do not Come Easy, as well as the album title I'm the Greatest.

The designer of the cover was Roy Kohara. The cover photos were taken by Emerson / Loew, the effects of the distortion added by Daniel Catherine.

Single releases

The single Oh My My / No No Song was released in January 1976 from the album, reaching no chart position in the UK and Germany. In the U.S., the single was not released.

Reissues

First published in CD format took place in May 1987 without bonus tracks. The CD release from 1987 has not yet been newly remastered.
