Liverpool 8 is the twenty-seventh album, or the fifteenth studio album by Ringo Starr after the breakup of the Beatles. It was on January 14, 2008 in Europe (USA: January 15, 2008) published. In the U.S., the album reached number 94 in the UK and number 91 in Germany number 94 in the charts.

Genesis

After the release of his last studio album Choose Love in July 2005 Ringo Starr stayed with his musical concept; so the album is wanted Liverpool 8 's fifth studio album, Mark Hudson and Ringo Starr produce together. However, while work on the album it came to differences between Ringo Starr and Mark Hudson, so that David A. Stewart with Ringo Starr ready produced the album. In the CD booklet Re -Produced stands by Ringo Starr and David A. Stewart; so it can be assumed that other songs of the album have been reworked again musically. Ringo Starr also also announced the end with the cooperation of his backing band The Roundheads.

The vast composition work was carried out again by Ringo Starr, Mark Hudson, Steve Dudas and Gary Burr. The recording time for the album are not documented, they extended probably over the years 2006 to 2007.

In 2006, Ringo Starr was with the All- Starr Band on tour and he sang the song Sweet Little Sixteen as a duet with Jerry Lee Lewis, the load on the album Man Standing by Jerry Lee Lewis was published in October 2006.

The title song Liverpool 8 is a tribute to his hometown with partially autobiographical text. Some songs on the album are similar in parts to the music of the Beatles. Liverpool 8 was the eighth album by Ringo Starr which was released by EMI. The designer of the cover was Paul Moore. The cover photos are from Brian Griffin.

USB Wristband

In the U.S., a so-called USB Wristband appeared that the album in MP3 format, a video message from Ringo Starr, a behind-the -scenes video interview and two phone ring tones and two cover photos in PDF format contains. The data is located on a USB stick, which is incorporated in a plastic bracelet.

Single releases

The only single Liverpool 8/For Love was released on January 7, 2008 in Europe as a red 7 " vinyl single, as well as a CD single that includes only the song Liverpool 8. The single reached number 99 in the UK, in Germany and in the U.S. they could not be placed in the charts.

In the U.S., a promotional CD with the title of Liverpool 8 One Hour Radio Special Promos, the music from the album as well as excerpts from interviews of Ringo Starr has distributed to radio stations.

Reissues

The CD release from 2008 has not yet been newly remastered.
