Genesis

In the booklet accompanying the CD states that Ringo Starr for this album chose songs that sang his parents and relatives in his youth, so pop, so-called standards of the 1930s and 1940s. Ringo Starr George Martin chose from as producers, who in turn chose prominent arrangers such as Quincy Jones and Elmer Bernstein for the songs.

Another, not yet official, but only published on bootlegs, song Stormy Weather was taken on November 6, 1969.

During the recording sessions for the album an early version of the song It Do not Come Easy was recorded on February 18, 1970, which still bore the working title Gotta Pay Your Dues. It Do not Come Easy first appeared in April 1971 as a single.
