I Wanna Be Santa Claus is the eighteenth album, or the twelfth studio album by Ringo Starr after the breakup of the Beatles. It was on 19 October 1999 in the UK (USA: October 18, 1999) published. It could not place in the charts in the U.S., Germany and the UK.

Genesis

After the release of his studio album Vertical Man in June 1998, Ringo Starr decided to record a full Christmas album was the first ex-Beatle. Previously John Lennon with the single Happy Xmas (War Is Over) ( December 1971 ), George Harrison had with the single / album title Ding Dong, Ding Dong ( December 1974) and Paul McCartney with the single Wonderful Christmas Time ( November 1979) special songs for Christmas published.

It is the second studio album, Mark Hudson and Ringo Starr -produced together.

The first composition activities by Mark Hudson and Ringo Starr for the album took place already in July 1998, as are six of the twelve songs new compositions where Ringo Starr was one of the fellow composer. Another five songs ( Winter Wonderland, The Little Drummer Boy, Rudolph the Red- Nosed Reindeer, Blue Christmas and White Christmas ) are re-recordings of well-known in the UK and in the U.S. carols. Christmas Time (Is Here Again ) is a remake of the Beatles song, which had been used on 15 December 1967 a Christmas single and was then sent by the official Beatles fan club to the members. The Beatles' version of Christmas Time ( Is Here Again) also appeared as the B - side of the single Free as a Bird in December 1995.

The recordings for the album ranged between September 1998 to September 1999, mainly in the WHATINTHEWHATHE? Studios in Los Angeles. In the A & M Studios then the mixing of the songs took place.

The Christmas album was commercially unsuccessful, so that the recording contract with Mercury after three publications (Vertical Man, VH1 Storytellers and I Wanna Be Santa Claus) has been terminated.

The designer of the cover were Ringo Starr, Mark Hudson, Sonia Ives, Odine Blue and Allyson Spellacy and other non- mentioned persons.
