Ringo 2012 is the thirty-second album, or the seventeenth studio album by Ringo Starr after the breakup of the Beatles. It was on January 30, 2012 in Europe (USA: January 31, 2012) published. In the U.S., the album reached number 80 in Germany and number 69 in the UK space 181 in the charts.

Genesis

Since the recordings for his studio album Y Not Ringo Starr took on the acting role of the first producers in Ringo 2012, he was the sole producer for the first time.

What is noticeable in the album, the relatively low total playing time of under half an hour at only nine songs, so Ringo 2012 is the shortest album with the least number of songs that Ringo Starr has released to date. The title of the album Ringo 2012 is an allusion to the name of the album Ringo from the year 1973. Recording times for the album are not documented, they probably extended beyond the year 2011.

Compared to the previous album Y Not less prominent musicians involved in this album. It worked, among others, Joe Walsh and David A. Stewart as well as with the (former) member of the All - Starr Band Edgar Winter. Ringo Starr was in seven of the nine songs composer or co-composer. The album also contains about two so-called Oldies Rock Line Iceland, which was a hit single for Lonnie Donegan in 1955 and the song Think It Over, which was a hit single for the band The Crickets in 1958. The title Wings is a re-recording of a song, which was released in September 1977 the album Ringo the 4th. Step Lightly is another new recording, originally released in November 1973 on the album Ringo. The song in Liverpool is the third tribute. According to The Other Side of Liverpool from the album Y Not and Liverpool 8 album by the same name, to his hometown with partially autobiographical text Anthem is by Peace Dream, from the previous album, a further appeal for peace.

Ringo 2012 is the third album by Ringo Starr, released by Universal Music Group. The design of the cover is from Vartan, Mike Fink, Philip Manning and Meire Murakami. The cover photos were taken by Rob Shanahan.

Special Edition with DVD

The special edition also contains a 16-minute DVD that interviews Ringo Starr and studio sequences include, for each song of the album. In addition, the song Peace Dream is discussed from the album Y Not.

Single releases

The only single released in advance Wings 10 January 2012 as a download single. The single was also placed in the charts either in Great Britain, Germany or the United States. In the U.S., a promotional CD with the song Wings has been distributed to radio stations additionally.
