Ľuboš Bartečko

Ľuboš Bartečko (* July 14, 1976 in Kežmarok, Czechoslovakia) is a Slovak ice hockey player who plays for the Piráti Chomutov in the Czech Extraliga since 2013.

Career

Ľuboš Bartečko began his career as a hockey player with SKP Poprad PS, for which he was active from 1993 to 1995 in the Extraliga. He then played one each season long for the Chicoutimi Sagueneens and the Drummondville Voltigeurs of the Canadian Junior Football League Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, before St. Louis Blues has been committed in 1998, for which he played from 1998 to 2001 in the National Hockey League. Previously, he was in the 1997/98 season already for their farm team, the Worcester IceCats of the American Hockey League on the ice. After two years with the Atlanta Thrashers Bartečko returned to Europe, where he stood in the 2003/04 season at HC Sparta Prague in the Czech Extraliga under contract.

For the 2004/ 05 season the Slovak signed with HK Dynamo Moscow, with whom he became Champion of Russia. From the summer of 2005 played Bartečko at Luleå HF in the Swedish Elitserien, where he started every season in the Slovak Extraliga, to get a tax-advantaged half- year contract in Sweden. With the start of the 2009/10 season Ľuboš Bartečko played for SC Bern in Switzerland, where he had signed a one-year contract. In January 2010, he transferred in exchange for Lee Goren for Färjestad BK after he seldom came into use at SC Bern. From September 2010 he was back at his hometown club, under contract, for whom he scored 13 points scorer in 13 games. In December 2010, he was obliged, together with Ladislav Nagy from MODO Hockey.

After 35 games for MODO he left the club and was signed in July 2011 by HC Lev Poprad from the Kontinental Hockey League.

Internationally

For Slovakia Bartečko participated in the A World Championships in 2000, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2009 and 2011. In addition, he was in the squad of Slovakia at the World Cup of Hockey in 2004 and the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Torino 2006 and Vancouver 2010.
