Luxor Las Vegas

The Luxor Hotel and Casino is a casino and hotel of four-star class in Las Vegas and is located at the southern end of the famous Las Vegas Strip.

Design & Design

The Luxor has become known primarily for its special exterior and interior design that comes from the pen of the architect Veldon Simpson. The cost was $ 400 million. The hotel was completed with 6000 workers in 18 months. The outer shape resembles a black glass pyramid, with north - viewed from the Strip from the right of it - are two other hotel complexes. These so-called Towers are conventional steel frame, each with 30 floors, the borders east and west sides of the pyramid. They are graded and therefore act visually as composed of blocks, similar to the construction of ziggurats. The two Towers were opened to expand capacity in 1998 after the opening of Luxor. The rooms in the pyramid are slightly cheaper than the somewhat newer and larger rooms in the adjacent towers.

The pyramid is 107 meters high and consists, like the Towers of 30 storeys. Outside the hotel there is a scaled-down replica of the Great Sphinx of Giza in their undamaged original state at a scale of 1:2, as can be found near the entrance from the Strip a sandstone-colored obelisk bearing the names of hotels in illuminated letters.

Overall, the hotel has 4400 rooms including 236 Jacuzzi suites. It is therefore in sixth place of the largest hotels in the world. These are in the pyramid by a total of 16 oblique lifts that Inclinators so-called reachable. The windows of the hotel rooms is oblique (about 39 degrees from the vertical), however, the interior walls are all vertical. The special glass prevents despite this architectural form excessive heating of the room, in each room in addition there is air conditioning for cooling.

There is a vertically directed beam of light in the sky at the top of the pyramid. He is so strong that you can see him in favorable weather conditions throughout the Las Vegas Valley from. In the spring you can see in the light beam millions of moths dancing. The beam is generated by 39 Xenon lamps.

The interior is still partially decorated in Egyptian style, the Egyptian "theme" of the hotel but is successively removed as part of renovations.

Location

The Luxor is located on the southern end of the Strip and close to McCarran airport and is flanked by the Excalibur in the south of Mandalay Bay and the north. These three hotels are connected by a free monorail system.

Attractions & Shows

Among the attractions of the hotel include two theaters, in which various successful artists already have occurred. So guested for example, from February 2000 to September 2005, Blue Man Group here before the musical " Hairspray " found its way here. Currently occurs in one of the theaters on the American clown and comedian Carrot Top, there is also the musical " Menopause " listed; In the second stage Criss Angel performs on the show " Believe" along with artists of Cirque du Soleil.

The public area of the hotel is divided into the actual casino level and also located at the fourth floor entertainment level. The entrances to the rooms, apart from the top three floors, the inside of the hotel open and secured only by a balustrade, so that from there the action can be observed on the entertainment level. The other way round is due to the large amount on the entertainment level almost the impression of being in the open air, which was exploited in the form of an open, beer garden-like style restaurant group ( primarily for fast food).
