Lužany (Plzeň-South District)

Lužany ( German Luschan ) is a municipality with 651 inhabitants in the Czech Republic. It is located four kilometers southwest of Prestice at the Úhlava and belongs to Okres Plzeň -jih. The land area is 944 ha

Geography

Lužany is located at 358 m above sea level. M. Uhlava river valley in the left side of the river. Through the village leads the railway from Pilsen to Klatovy and the European route 53/Staatsstraße 27 between Prestice and Švihov. South of the village is the Lužanský fishpond. In the southwest rises beyond the river the hora ( 500 m).

Neighboring towns are Skočice, Přeštice and Příchovice in the north, Radkovice, Zelena Hora and Zelené in the east, and Nezdice Borovy in the south and Mstice and Dlouhá Louka in the southwest.

History

The place Lužany was first documented in 1175. In 1245 was Imran z Lužan owner of the resort, whose descendants occupied until the 14th century the rule. However, the property was divided by inheritances. After several changes of ownership Lužany arrived in the 15th century to the Příchovice on Skočice that made 1583 rebuilt into a Renaissance chateau the festivals. From 1603 Lužany belonged to Skočice. At the time of Berni rula the village mostly belonged to the Imperial Council and captain of the Pilsener circle Karel František Příchovský; the rule Roupov held a small share. Johann Wilhelm Příchovský sold the property rule in 1721 to his brother Klink of Engelfluß. During the 18th and 19th century frequently changed the landlords, which included the Trautmannsdorff, Kinský, Pentenrieder of Adelhausen and Vršovec. In the village, a Jewish community was established. 1808 acquired Friedrich Karl Graf von Schönborn Luschan and united it with Dolni Lukavice. 1809 ärarische road from Pilsen was built by Klattau. The cholera epidemic of 1831 called for at Lushan 31 lives. For 1848 created Allodialgut Lužany included the villages Skočice, Dlouhá Louka Zelena Hora, Zelené, as well as parts of Vlčí and Nová Ves. 1867 Josef Hlávka bought the castle from the Prague manufacturers Francis of ring Hoffer and built it 1886-1888 in neo-Renaissance style by. On November 14, 1877, the first train from Markt Eisenstein to Pilsen and the village received the station Luschan in Bohemia. 1889 lived in Luschan 564 people, long meadows had 193 inhabitants, in green it was 178 and in Grünberg 32 On May 16, 1889 Luschan was affected by a major flood, in which around 50 people were drowned. In 1890 the closure of the stately sugar factory. 1912 a distillery was founded. End of the 19th century died out, the Jewish community and the synagogue was demolished in 1946.
