Marianne Mendt

Marianne Mendt ( born September 29, 1945 in Vienna as Marianne Krupicka ) is an Austrian singer and actress.

Life

Marianne Mendt got as a child private lessons in classical singing and enjoyed six years piano lessons. After business school, she worked for three years at the company, Henkel detergent, then followed but their calling. After a vocal training and testing abgeleisteter as " artist talk ", she toured with her band The Internationals as a singer and bassist of Europe. In 1970, she returned to Vienna and was discovered by Gerhard Bronner. The music came from Hans Salomon and was the theme song of Bronner's satirical TV show " The big bell ". The song was presented in the 30 June 1970 broadcast on the first channel of ORF 10 episode of this show. On the album "Like a Glock'n " which published in 1970 Mendt with Bronner and Solomon, assisted by André Heller and Werner Schneyder, are also ( jazz ) classics like " Mercy, Mercy, Mercy ," " Spinning Wheel ", or included musical hit "Aquarius", where the " Austrian " text was written. In 1971, she represented Austria in Dublin at the Euro Vision Song Contest, with her song music but reached only 16 and thus the third last place.

1972 published Mendt the LP " Good songs are like guns ," which was produced by André Heller. Also, were involved in this album Georg Danzer, Robert and Richard Opratko Austrians as lyricists and composers.

After the birth of their daughter Anna to Mendt mainly focused on the work in Vienna and played increasingly, theater, among others at Vienna's Raimund Theater and the Theater in der Josefstadt and in movies, but also published further LPs and performed as a singer in television programs in Germany and Austria on. Great reputation she gained in the years 1992 to 2000, particularly in the role as " Gitti Schimek " in the ORF television series Kaisermuehlen blues.

In 2000 published the album Mendt friends and prophets, on which she re-arranged as duets with some of her early companions including André Heller and Georg Danzer reinterpreted some of their early songs.

From 2002 Mendt was a year long chairman of SOS fellow man.

She was launched on 1 November 2004 in Vienna setting is a talent competition " Take Your Chance"; this was stopped on 13 May 2005 in Dornbirn. In parallel, she organized a jazz festival. This first MM- Jazz Festival was held from September 14 to 18, 2005 in St. Pölten with participants such as Peter Wolf, Upper Austrian Jazz, Lungau Big Band, Karl Ratzer, Richard Austrians and Viktor Gernot and established itself in the following years as integral part of the jazz scene in Lower Austria. Since 2004, a guest " the " Mendt between Christmas and New Year regularly with great success with her band - Thomas Kugi ts, Oliver Kent p, Werner Feldgrill b, Mario Gonzi dm - in Vienna Jazzland.
