Marinus Valentijn

Marinus Valentijn ( born October 21, 1900 in Sint- Willibrord, † November 3, 1991 ) was a Dutch cyclist.

Marinus Valentijn was a professional racing driver from 1931 to 1939 at this time. Twice he was Dutch road champion. His biggest success was a third place at the Road World Championships in 1933 after Georges memory and Antonin Magne, after he had in 1932 already occupied the sixth place.

Valentijn was considered a pioneer since it was one of the first Dutchman who launched abroad. So, he took part in the first 1935 Vuelta a Espana and tenth. At this time cycling were allowed for reasons of propriety only as a closed circuit race in the Netherlands.

Marinus Valentijn was the grandfather of the Dutch racing driver Jacques Hanegraaff.
