Adrie Voorting

Adrianus " Adri ' " Voor Ting (* February 15 1931 in Haarlem, † August 1, 1961 in Bergen op Zoom ) was a Dutch cyclist.

Ari Voor Ting was the youngest of ten children, his widowed mother ran a candy kiosk in Haarlem. His brother Gerrit, who along with two other brothers also racing was also during the war forced laborers in France.

1952 took Adri Voor Ting at the Olympic Games in Helsinki, in the individual road race, the team time trial and the team pursuit on the track, but without placing yourself outstanding. The following year he turned professional. His greatest achievement was the victory at the Dutch road championships in 1954, before Wout Wagtmans and his brother Gerrit. In the same year he became Dutch champion in the individual pursuit. 1953 and 1955 he took part in the Tour de France, but both times were on. In 1954 he finished seventh overall in the Giro d' Italia.

In August 1961, Voor Ting was seriously injured in an accident with his car; he died after six days in a coma in the hospital.
