Marius Žaliūkas

Marius Žaliūkas ( born November 10, 1983 in Kuršėnai ) is a Lithuanian footballer.

Career

Žaliūkas began his career at FK Inkaras Kaunas. In his first season the club fifth in the first league was. In 2003, he played one more year in unterklassig Inkaras, before transferring to FBK Kaunas in 2004. It became an instant champion and cup winner and also Supercup winner. From January 2005 he was at FK Šilutė under contract by which he reached the sixth place. In 2006 he returned to Kaunas, where he remained for half a year, before moving in the summer of 2006 to Scotland Heart of Midlothian. Previously, he played with Kaunas yet UEFA Cup qualifier against Portadown FC from Northern Ireland and Randers FC in Denmark.

His debut in the highest Scottish league gave the Lithuanians August 26, 2006 against Inverness Caledonian Thistle. The game was won 4-1. His first goal he scored 2 December 2006 against FC St. Mirren. At the end of his first season the club finished fourth. After the eighth place in 2007/ 08 could get three in 2008/ 09 to qualify with space for international competition. In the 2009/10 Europa League season, he came up with two appearances and one goal. In the championship they finished sixth.

Žaliūkas won the Scottish Cup with Hearts in the season 2011 /12.

For Lithuania Žaliūkas has played 21 times. He made his debut in 2005.
