Marjorie Gestring

Marjorie Gestring ( born November 18, 1922 in Los Angeles, † April 20, 1992 in Burlingame ) was an American Water Diving. She once took part in the Olympics and won a gold medal there.

Career

Marjorie knitted ring took part in Berlin at the 1936 Summer Olympics. She had been in the Trials behind Katherine Rawls can qualify from the three- meter board for participation in the competition. In Olympic competition knitted ring then won but before Rawls and the other American starter Dorothy Poynton the gold medal. This made her the youngest Olympic champion until then with 13 years and 268 days. Between 1936 and 1940 she won eight titles of the Amateur Athletic Union. In 1948, crocheted ring at the age of 25 years participated in the Trials for the Olympic Summer Games 1948 in London. But when they failed to qualify fourth for a place.
