Martin Psenner

Psenner Martin ( born March 2, 1976 in Fiè ) is a former Italian natural track luge. He was twice Vice-European Champion in doubles and also won the doubles bronze medal at the World Championships in 1996. In the World Cup he reached a total of seven victories in both the two-seater and single seater twice in the second place in the overall World Cup.

Career

Psenner took from 1993 to 1995 in three European junior championships, scoring a best result of third in the single-seater in 1994. In the World Cup he started first with Arthur Künig in doubles. They celebrated in the season 1994/1995 the first victory, achieved another podium finish in the World Cup and occupied the fourth place. In 1995, she also won the last discharged European Cup. In the 1995/1996 season they won not a World Cup race, but reached third with two and three second places behind the Austrians Helmut and Andi Ruetz, five of the six races of the season won the second place in the overall World Cup. At the European Championships in 1995 in Kandalakscha the double Psenner / Künig won behind Ruetz / Ruetz the silver medal at the World Championships in 1996 in Oberperfuss the bronze medal. In the 1996/1997 season Psenner first started Anton Blasbichler in doubles. They achieved a third and a second place. During the season, Christian Hafner was his new partner in doubles. In the 2003/2004 season Psenner reach with two third places in Grande Prairie and Garmisch- Partenkirchen his first World Cup podium in the single seaters. But since he could produce only two twelfth places in the other four races, he came in the World Cup still only in tenth place. At the 2004 European Championships in Huttau he finished fourth and missed the bronze medal by less than a tenth of a second. In the season 2004/2005 has established itself Psenner with consistently good performances in the world rankings. He drove in five out of six races in the top three and celebrated in the season finale in Olang his first World Cup victory in the single-seater. He reached behind Anton Blasbichler, who won four races, second in the overall World Cup. Only at the World Championship 2005 in Laces he could not reach these results. In single-seater he finished seventh and fifth in the team competition.

At the end of the 2005/2006 season Psenner in Oberperfuss celebrated his second World Cup victory in the single-seater. Throughout the winter, however, this was his only podium finish, so he fell back in the World Cup in fourth. In the 2006 European Championship in Obergurgl he came only seventh. In the season 2006/2007 Psenner went back in four races in the top three, including his last World Cup victory on January 21, 2007 in Longiaru. He reached for the second time in the single-seat World Cup second place overall. This winter Psenner took together with Johannes Hofer for the first time in seven years, returned to World Cup races in the doubles part. Your best results were two third places in Longiaru and Umhausen, which she finished fifth in doubles overall World Cup. At the 2007 World Championships in Grande Prairie was Psenner fourth in single-seaters, taking time only four hundredths of a second behind bronze remained, and with Johannes Hofer fifth in doubles, coinciding with the Austrians Christian and Andreas Schopf. In the team competition, he came in doubles for use, reaching number six.

In the 2007/2008 season Psenner again participated exclusively in the single-seater at World Cup races.
