Martin Å koula

Škoula Martin ( born October 28, 1979 in Litoměřice, Czechoslovakia) is a Czech ice hockey player who plays for the HC Slovan Bratislava in the Kontinental Hockey League on the position of the defense in 2013.

Career

Škoula was pulled at the NHL Entry Draft in 1998 in the first round at a total of 17 out of the Colorado Avalanche, after playing two seasons in his home and a season with the Barrie Colts in the Ontario Hockey League. In the 2000 /01 season he won with the Avalanche to the Stanley Cup. In 2002 he took part with the Czech national team at the Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City.

On 21 February 2004 Škoula was transferred to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, the Colorado Avalanche in return received Kurt Sauer and a fourth round draft pick in the NHL Entry Draft in 2005. His contract expired at the end of the season and was not renewed. The lockout of the NHL season 2004/ 05 on he played in his youth HC Chemopetrol Litvinov. In the 2005/06 season, he was first a so-called Unrestricted free agent before he signed a contract in Texas with the Dallas Stars on 3 August 2005. Also this working relationship was short-lived and in March 2006 he was with Shawn Belle in exchange for Willie Mitchell and a second-round draft pick for the NHL Entry Draft in 2007 transferred to the Minnesota Wild. On September 29, 2009 Martin Škoula signed a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

In March 2010 he was discharged together with Luca Caputi in exchange for Olexij Ponikarowskyj to the Toronto Maple Leafs. No twelve hours later he was passed on to the New Jersey Devils. For the 2010/11 season he was obliged by HK Avangard Omsk of the Kontinental Hockey League and played for Omsk to 2012. Shortly after the season starts in 2012, he moved within the KHL for HC Lev Prague. From January 2013 Škoula was from HC Lev in the second division of the Czech Republic, the first league, used, after he was first set to the KHL Waiver list.
