Mathieu Biron

Mathieu Biron ( born April 29, 1980 in Lac -Saint -Charles, Quebec ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who plays for the Thetford Mines Isothermic in the Ligue Nord - Americaine de Hockey since December 2010.

Career

Biron played in his junior Cataractes de Shawinigan time for the Quebec Major Junior Hockey from the League, on 27 June 1998, he was selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the first round of the NHL Entry Draft in 1998 at 21 place. The Kings exchanged the Canadians before he ever had a game for them denied on 19 June 1999 along with Olli Jokinen, Josh Green and a first-round vote in NHL Entry Draft 1999 against Žigmund Palffy, Bryan Smolinski, Marcel Cousineau and a fourth rounds suffrage in the same Draft to the New York Islanders.

However, the defender could be on the Islanders not succeed and was a second-round draft law to the Tampa Bay Lightning, which in return Adrian Aucoin via the NHL Waiver Draft to the Columbus Blue Jackets that would swap him immediately against Petr Tenkrat from the Florida Panthers. After the lockout in the 2004/05 season Biron signed a one-year contract with the Washington Capitals and, after a season on the San Jose Sharks, where he but only for the farm team, the Worcester Sharks in the American Hockey League on the ice stood. Even during the season of Canadians was traded from the Sharks vs. Patrick Traverse to the Montreal Canadiens, however, came only in the AHL with the Hamilton Bulldogs used. With the team Biron could end the season 2006/ 07 to celebrate winning the Calder Cup.

After another year at the Bulldogs the defender signed for the 2008/09 season a contract with the Frankfurt Lions of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga. For the 2009/2010 season he moved within the league to the Hamburg Freezers, for whom he played until the end of the season. He then worked as unemployed before receiving a contract with the Thetford Mines Isothermic from the Ligue Nord - Americaine de Hockey mid-December 2010.

Mathieu is the younger brother of Martin Biron, who currently plays for the New York Islanders of the NHL.
