Mattias Sjögren

Mattias Sjögren (born 27 November 1987 in Landskrona ) is a Swedish professional ice hockey player on the position of the center and right winger, who has a contract with Linköpings HC Hockey Svenska ligands since May 2013.

Career

Sjogren played in his time at junior IF Lejonet before he was active in the youth department of Rögle BK from 2003. There he went through the U18 and U20 junior teams. In the season 2004/ 05 - at the age of 17 years - he was already his debut for Rögle in the subprime HockeyAllsvenskan. From the season 2005 / / 06 he finally belonged permanently to seniors squad, with whom he celebrated the championship title of the Allsvenskan at the end of season 2007 /08. About the Kvalserien the team also qualified for the Elitserien.

After two good years with Rögle in the Elitserien and the interim appointment as assistant captain he was signed in April 2010 from Premier League rivals Färjestad BK. With Färjestad he won at the end of the season 2010/11 the Swedish championship title. In early June 2011, he signed as a free agent a contract for two seasons with the Washington Capitals. In the following two years he was employed by the Capitals at the Hershey Bears in the American Hockey League and borrowed in the second half of the 2011/12 season at the Färjestad BK.

In May 2013 he was obliged by Linköpings HC.

Internationally

After Sjögren had already denied some appearances for the Under-20 Junior of his home country and had come for the seniors choice in the context of the Euro Hockey Tour to missions, he was first nominated for the 2011 World Championships in Slovakia for a major tournament.
