Goods traffic was opened on both routes on January 20, 1885, passenger followed a week later on January 28, 1885. Originally the local railway operating company from Hamburg should operate the route. The management was later transferred to the Central Administration for Secundairbahnen Herrmann Bachstein in Berlin.

The traffic on the route had mainly local. By 1888, the balance sheets of the Company showed a negative result.

Over the nationalization efforts of the Mecklenburg Government these acquired on April 1, 1894, the Mecklenburg Southern Railway simultaneously with the Lloyd track and incorporated it into the Grand Duchy of Mecklenburg Friedrich- Franz Railway. Here, eight locomotives were taken over.

The passenger of the reorganized branch line after Möllenhagen was set in 1970, the route but continue to operate for the carriage of goods to the present Durtrack concrete plant, a large producer of concrete sleepers.

Presence

The section Kargow - Möllenhagen today still serves as a connecting train to the concrete sleeper factory Möllenhagen ( station track of the station Kargow ). Passenger traffic on the western part Parchim Merchandise Kargow and continue towards Neustrelitz is now run by the ODEG every two hours with Train meeting for straight full hour in Malchow. The existing on the sections of goods to Malchow and Möllenhagen freight traffic is now handled primarily by DB Schenker Rail Germany.

The railway infrastructure of the section of Karow ( Meckl ) to Waren (Müritz) leased initially Prignitzer railway infrastructure GmbH (PEI ) on 1 March 2008 by DB Netz AG. The old station has since no longer served by passenger trains, but continue to be used for train crossings.

At the same time, however, the offer was significantly reduced on the route east of Luebz because of extensive austerity measures the country Mecklenburg -Vorpommern in regional rail transport. Since different compounds were removed in the morning and in the evenings, there is now no constant every two hours more.

Future
