Gallin-Kuppentin

Gallin - Kuppentin is a municipality in the east of the county Ludwigslust - Parchim in Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ). It is administered by the Office Eldenburg Lübz with headquarters in the city Lübz.

Geography and transport

The community is located about nine kilometers south of Gold Mountain, about nine kilometers north-east of Luebz and about twelve kilometers west of Plau am See. Several small lakes ( Daschower, Penzliner and Zahrener lake ) located in the municipal area. Within the district the nature reserve at Old Elde Kuppentin and the wetlands and nature reserve are Daschower Moor ( Birksmoor ). Highest elevations of the Seven Eichenberg with 82.5 m above sea level. NHN north of Penzlin and the elevations on the municipal border with New Poserin.

South of the village extend the federal highway 191 and the Müritz - Elde waterway. In Gallin is a stopping point on the railway line Parchim - Neubrandenburg.

History

Kuppentin 1235 first mentioned. The name changed from Kobandin in 1271, 1283 Cobbandin, 1285 Cubbandin, 1287 Cobendin, 1291 Kobendin, 1296 Cobbendin, 1298 Cobbendyn up to Cobbentyn in 1558th The place name comes from the Old Slavic kob for divination or the locator Location of the Kob - bath, or place of Kubęta. Engelbert was detectable as pastor of Kuppentin of 3 August 1235 to 27 May 1244. From 1249-1256 he was a canon to Schwerin.

Gallin was already mentioned in 1192 as Glyna documented. The name comes from the Old Slavic glina for mud or clay, and so does the loamy site.

Zahren as Kuppentin first mentioned in 1235 as Syarnitze. The name comes from the old Slavic črŭnŭ for black from.

The community Gallin - Kuppentin was created by the merger of previously independent municipalities Gallin and Kuppentin on 13 June 1999.
