Banzkow

Banzkow is a municipality in the district of Ludwigsburg pleasure Parchim in Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ). It is administered by the Office Crivitz based in Crivitz.

Geography

Banzkow located 15 kilometers south of Schwerin. Through the community's fault waterway flows. This connects the Lake Schwerin on the Müritz- Elde waterway with the Müritz and the Elbe. The Banzkower lock in the course of the channel controls next to the weir at its northern drain the water level of Lake Schwerin. The lock is bypassed by the mill stream. History

Banzkow was first mentioned on 31 October 1300 to be Bancekowe. Other forms of the name are Banscekowe ( 1327 ) and Bantzekowe (1350 ). The name refers to the Slavic locator of the place and meaning place of Bacek.

Since the year 1337 there were in Banzkow a watermill and today the mill stream, a tributary of the Sturgeon Waterway convinced. 1534 a bridge over the fault was built. For this was once an important trade route to Hamburg, which is today called Hamburger freight route. For the crossing of the sturgeon duties were collected. The 1566 finished main lock was rebuilt several times and rebuilt in 1926. Operator of the sluice was until 1856 the water Müller, who needed the water storage and execution, via Mühlengraben to operate his mill. While the smuggling of ships the waterwheel stood still.

The abundance of wood brought with it that Banzkow became known as a village of carvers and turners. Originally belonged Banzkow the Count of Schwerin, from 1433 to the national domain. At the national competition " Our village has a future", which was attended by a total of 3625 municipalities, Banzkow could win one of eight gold medals. The award was presented in January 2008 at the Green Week in Berlin by the then Federal Minister Horst Seehofer. In the same year Banzkow hosted the " country harvest festival ". In European competition Entente Florale Europe in 2010 Banzkow won the silver medal.

Banzkow was 1992-2013 seat of the Office Banzkow, which was dissolved by a Offices merger on January 1, 2014. The Office operates a newly formed Crivitz Community Office in Banzkow.

The district Mirow was first documented in 1270. In its townscape to settle German hall houses and the neo-Gothic church were preserved. The village street is accompanied by a handsome avenue of lime trees.

Incorporations

Coinciding with the taken place in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern local elections on 7 June 2009, the formerly independent municipality Goldenstädt was amalgamated with the hamlet of Jamel after Banzkow.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on 2 August 2000 by the Home Office and registered by the Mecklenburg- Vorpommern under No. 220 of the coat of arms role.

Blazon: "In green to golden Wellenschildfuß a golden Dutch windmill, accompanied on both sides by a golden linden leaf. "

The coat of arms was designed by the Schwerin heraldist Karl -Heinz quarry.

For since September 2000, existing coat of arms, a windmill was a central component chosen as the existence of several mills established since the Middle Ages and the still existing Dutch windmill is the town's landmark. The two linden leaves indicate the linden -lined road through Mirow.

  • Banzkower local inputs of 2007: Together with Wismarer architecture students the local access roads were created. A stylized fence with gate handle, which spans the road from Mirow and from the direction Hasenhäge is a door hinge. The fence conveys the solidarity of the village's history with livestock and pastoralism, the hinge points to the blacksmithing. From Sukow a model of a smart card reader was set up, which is symbolic of the newer part Banzkows. The access road from the direction of plate is decorated with an open village gate, which is to point to the village center with its old courtyards.

Traffic

Federal highway 106 runs through the southwest of the community. The Federal Highway 14 runs directly through the municipal area, but it is up to the establishment of the proposed junction Schwerin -south just across the junction Schwerin -east (18 km).
