Eldena

The municipality is part of the Office Eldena Grabow in the district of Ludwigsburg pleasure Parchim in Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ).

Geography

The location is situated 14 kilometers southwest of Ludwigslust and about 15 kilometers northeast of Doemitz. The Elde - side channel which is part of the Müritz -Elde waterway that branches off here from the original course of the Elde, which is called from the fork as Old Elde, from.

The municipality consists of the villages adjacent to the main town Eldena Güritz, stucco and Krohn.

History

The place name comes from the river Elde, which flows close to the place back. The founding Eldenas was carried out by the establishment of a convent of the Cistercian Order 1229-1235. A large village fire in 1835 the church, as at the time only preserved, former center of the monastery was destroyed almost completely. In the preserved walls of today's neo-Gothic St. John's Church was built from 1835 to 1839. The spire dates from the year 1850, the organ was built in 1840. From 1974 to 1978, a renovation of the church took place, a new altar was consecrated in 1991, the organ was repaired in 1995.

Sports
