Mettau

Mettauertal (Swiss German: mætəbərtɑ ː l) is a municipality in the district of Laufen castle of the Swiss canton of Aargau. It is located in the northeast of the Frick Valley region on the border with Germany, around five kilometers east of the district municipal seat. Mettauertal was created on 1 January 2010 by the merger of the municipalities Etzgen, Hottwil, Mettau, Oberhofen and Wil. Geography

History

A 1922 gold coin found in Mettau points out that during the Roman era there was a way of Vindonissa by the Mettauertal to the Rhine. During the 4th century, the Rhine formed the northern border of the Roman Empire.
