MogoÈ™

Mogos (deprecated Mogos - Micleşti or Micleşti; Mogos German ) is a town in Alba county in Transylvania, Romania.

Location

Mogos is by the river Mogoşu, in the Transylvanian Erzgebirge (Romanian Munţii Metaliferi ) in western Transylvania, in the southeastern part of the historical Pimp country. The nearest small town is about 27 kilometers west Abrud; the county capital Alba Iulia ( Charles Castle ) 32 km (air line ) southeast of Mogos away. With its 21 eingemeindeten villages and hamlets, the municipality covers an area of 8,133 acres at the headwaters of the river Geoagiu ( Gyogy ), a tributary of the Mureş ( Maros ).

History

The place was first mentioned in 1760 under the name Mogos - Micleşti. He has since been characterized by grazing.

Population

The 1,114 residents of the municipality designated in 2002, with the exception of two people ( a Hungarian and a Rome) throughout as Romanians. The population has remained stable since the first official survey in 1850 (then 2815 ) to the mid-1960s roughly constant since then and took significantly. Only 109 (2002 ) people live in the central city Mogos, the others in the 20 eingemeindeten, small scattered settlements around. The highest population ( 3,415 ) was registered in 1941.

Traffic

Mogos is located on the unpaved driveway between Aiud (Strasbourg Mures ) and Abrud ( United Schlatten ). Once a day, there is a bus service in the county capital Alba Iulia (2008 ).

Attractions

  • Mogos itself has no special features. In several incorporated villages Bârleşti (Hungarian Mogosbirlesty ) and Cojocani (Hungarian Mogoskozsokány ) are the wooden churches Sf. Împăraţi Constantin şi Elena built in 1844, and the Sf. Arhangheli built 1700-1769 and renewed the early 19th century, both are under monument protection.
  • Of tourist interest is the scenic location of the community.
