MSC Splendida

The MSC Splendida is a cruise ship in the Italian shipping company MSC Crociere SA headquartered in Naples, a subsidiary of Mediterranean Shipping Company. It's all year round in the Western Mediterranean on the go.
Construction and commissioning
The ship was built at the French shipyard STX Europe. The naming ceremony took place on July 12, 2009 in Barcelona by Italian actress Sophia Loren, who was already godmother of several MSC ships. The MSC Splendida is the sister ship of 18 December 2008 baptized MSC Fantasia. They were at the time of their entry into the largest passenger ships ever built for a European ship owner and belonged at that time the third largest cruise ship type worldwide.
Sister ships
The MSC Splendida has three sister ships. The type of ship, the MSC Fantasia was commissioned in 2009. MSC Divina followed in 2010. In 2013, the MSC Preziosa was put into service.
