The Golden Iris is a ship of Mano Maritime.

History

The ship was built in 1975 at shipyard Burmeister & Wain in Copenhagen. It was provided by Cunard Line Cunard Conquest as in service. After a renovation in 1977, the ship was renamed Cunard Princess.

During the Gulf War, the ship of the Armed Forces Recreation Center of the United States was chartered. On December 24, 1990, arrived in Bahrain and was used by used in the Gulf War U.S. soldiers to relax and rest.

As of 19 October 1991, the ship sailed again for the Cunard Line. In 1995 it was sold to StarLauro Cruises, the cruise line, which is known as MSC Crociere today. For StarLauro Cruises, the ship was a replacement for the completely destroyed and sunk by a fire Achille Lauro. StarLauro Cruises put the ship as a Rhapsody. The ship was sold on April 9, 2009 Mano Maritime and renamed Golden Iris.

Specifications

The ship is powered by four seven-cylinder diesel engines of manufacturer B & W. The engines come with a power of 3861 kW and drive two controllable pitch propellers.

For the power supply, a total of five diesel generators. Four of the generators have an apparent power of 1,575 kVA, the fifth on an apparent power of 312.5 kVA.

Sister ship is built as Cunard Countess Ocean Countess, which was scrapped after a fire in 2013 in 2014 in Aliaga.
