The MSC Lirica is a cruise ship of MSC Crociere SA The first new construction project of the shipping company was classified by Bureau Veritas and ship registered in Panama. The MSC Lirica has led to the commissioning of the MSC Musica in 2006 as the flagship of the shipping company.

History

Construction and commissioning

The ship was built with the hull number K32 at the shipyard Alstom Chantiers de l'Atlantique in Saint- Nazaire and delivered on 24 March 2003 to the shipping company. The naming ceremony took place in the port of Naples Sophia Loren.

Use

After the commissioning of the MSC Lirica was used for cruises in the Mediterranean. In the summer of 2013 she is traveling in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Black Sea. In winter they drove until February 2013 in the Caribbean, from the end of 2013, however, it should be used instead from Dubai in the Persian Gulf, where she was already over the winter season 2011/2012 with similar cruises in use.

Incidents

During a deposition maneuver in Civitavecchia MSC Lirica was pressed in a strong wind against the piers on 2 November 2007 and damaged in the bow on the port side. The ship was repaired between the 12th and 17th November 2007 at the dry dock and used on December 4 from Fort Lauderdale again ..

Machinery and drive
