Municipality of Šenčur

Šenčur ( German Sankt Georgen ) is a municipality in the Carniola ( Upper Carniola) region in Slovenia.

Location and population

In the overall community consisting of twelve villages 8,521 people live. The main town Šenčur alone has 2,741 inhabitants and is located on 402 m near Kranj. The municipality is located in the central part of Kranjska ravnina level. There is also the Lake Trbojsko Lake.

History

By the end of the Habsburg Empire Šenčur belonged to the crown land of Carniola, the location had been part of the judicial district or the district Kranj Kranj.
