Najat Vallaud-Belkacem

Najat Belkacem - Vallaud (born 4 October 1977 in Beni Chiker, Morocco ) is a French politician of the Parti Socialiste (PS) and since the change of government from April 2, 2014 Minister of Women's Rights, City, Youth and Sports in the government of Manuel Valls. Previously, she was since May 2012 Minister for the rights of women and government spokeswoman in the cabinet of Prime Minister Jean -Marc Ayrault.

Life

Najat Belkacem - Vallaud who immigrated in 1981 to her Moroccan father in France, studied post-school Public Law and graduated with a licentiate. A subsequent post-graduate studies at the Institut d' études politiques de Paris, she finished with a diploma.

Subsequently, she was employed between 2000 and 2002 as a lawyer at an approved before the Conseil d' État law firm in Paris and then Parliamentary Assistant to Béatrice Marre, the Oise in the constituency of the National Assembly acted as deputies.

She then moved in 2003 to the office of Senator Gérard Collomb, Mayor of Lyon which is at the same time, and was there until 2008 as a consultant for grassroots democracy, fight against discrimination, the promotion of citizens' rights, employment and housing subsidies responsible.

During this time she also began her actual political career when she was elected in 2004 as a candidate of the PS as a member of the Regional Council of Rhône -Alpes region, and this was a member until 2008. Najat Vallaud - Belkacem was after the election of François Hollande, his campaign spokeswoman she was elected president and the appointment of Jean -Marc Ayrault as prime minister of this on 17 May 2012 Minister for the rights of women and a government spokeswoman in his cabinet appointed. It was thus one of the youngest Minister on the Government Hollande.

Policy

Najat Belkacem - Vallaud is the main advocate a tightening of Legislation against prostitution. In particular, it operates as a Minister of the law to punish the clients of prostitutes. In June 2012, she explained in an article in the Journal du dimanche, the attitude of the French government to prostitution:

" La question de savoir si n'est pas nous Voulons abolir la prostitution - la réponse est oui - mais de nous donner les moyens de le faire"

" It's not about whether we want to abolish prostitution - the answer to this is yes - but to give us the means to make this possible "
