Naples Airport (Italian: Aeroporto di Napoli Capodichino ) is an Italian airport in Naples. He is one of the most important airports in Southern Italy and is 7 km from the city center.

The airport is located in the city of Naples. He has connection to the motorway A56 tangent, through which all parts of the city are easily accessible, and the A1 motorway to Rome. In the inner city and some surrounding cities such as Caserta, Avellino, Benevento, Salerno and Sorrento, there are several bus services. The ANM alibus commutes between Piazza Municipio in Naples and the Airport. The city bus 3S runs from the station forecourt of Napoli Centrale. A connection to the subway is planned.
History
The airport was built in 1910 on the former Champ de Mars from Capodichino as a military airfield. In 1943 the United States Army Air Forces took him as their base, and later the military part was used primarily by the U.S. Navy, the 6th Fleet in Naples had their base. In 1950, they opened the airport for civilian and commercial aviation. Gradually, he was surrounded by urban settlements, which prevented any further expansion. Future
In the nearly six million inhabitants Campania region Capodichino is still the only commercial airport. A further extension is not possible for town planning reasons.
