Lamezia Terme Airport ( Italian: Aeroporto di Lamezia Terme) is Lamezia Terme in Calabria Italian. The IATA airport code SUF is derived from Eufemia, the suburb of Lamezia Terme, which is closest to the airport. The airport opened in 1976, is of the Società Aeroportuale Calabrese SpA ( Şacal ) operated.
Regional traffic concept
Of the three airports in Calabria Lamezia Terme with nearly two million passengers annually by far the busiest. It is mainly the development of the northern Tyrrhenian coast of the region and is well connected with the intermodal A3 motorway, the railway line Tirrenica Meridional and the container port of Gioia Tauro. The catchment area of the airport include the cities of Cosenza, Catanzaro and Vibo Valentia and tourist destinations such as Tropea. Connection
Two kilometers north of the airport is located at the main train station of Saint Eufemia Lamezia Terme ( Stazione Centrale di Lamezia Terme). From along the Tyrrhenian coast path running track here branches off a branch line from to Lamezia Terme (city), Catanzaro and on to the Ionian coast. So far, run between the airport and the main railway coaches, a rail connection to the airport is planned.
From the airport, the tourist resorts on the Tyrrhenian coast of the Strada Statale 18 Tirrena Inferiore and some shorter branch lines are within easy reach. Cosenza in the north and Gioia Tauro in the south are connected via the A3 motorway, Catanzaro in the east of the State Road 280
From the German-speaking area is served Lamezia Terme from Air Berlin, German Wings, Austrian Airlines, Ryanair and Helvetic Airways. Connections within Italy mainly offers Alitalia. The Canadian Air Transat connects Lamezia Terme season with Toronto.
