Niko Hovinen

Niko Hovinen ( born March 16, 1988 in Helsinki) is a Finnish professional ice hockey goaltender who stands since November 2013 when Admiral Vladivostok in the Kontinental Hockey League contract.

Career

Niko Hovinen began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior department of Jokerit Helsinki, for the first team, he made his debut in the SM- liiga in the season 2006/ 07 and with which he was runner-up immediately after it as in the previous year goalkeeper was ordered into the professional squad. From 2005 to 2008 he played mainly for the youth teams of Jokerit, while he was parallel to some inserts for the Finnish U20 national team in the second-rate Mestis. For the 2008/09 season, the goalkeeper moved within the SM- liiga for Pelicans Lahti to where he has since to be used regularly and for the first time, he completed a full season as a goalkeeper in the 2010/11 season. From 2008 to 2010 he was also as Players out on loan to eleven appearances for HeKi in the Mestis.

In May 2011, signed Hovinen a contract as a free agent with the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League. In the season 2011/12 he ran as Players out on loan initially remain applicable for Pelicans on. Previously, he had been already selected in the NHL Entry Draft in the fifth round in 2006 when a total of 132 players from the Minnesota Wild, which, however, subsequently never committed it. The season 2012/13 started Hovinen at the Trenton Titans of the ECHL, a cooperation partner of the Philadelphia Flyers before the fin located on the Waiverliste was selected in January 2013 by the Edmonton Oilers. This beordeten it in connection to their AHL farm team, the Oklahoma City Barons.

In May 2013 Metallurg Novokuznetsk Hovinen of the Continental Hockey League has been committed, but left the club in November of the same year back in the direction Admiral Vladivostok.

Internationally

For Finland Hovinen took part in the World Championship 2011 in Slovakia, in which he became world champion with his team as a goalkeeper without use.
