Noah Welch

Noah Paul Welch ( born August 26, 1982 in Brighton, Massachusetts) is an American professional ice hockey player who is since July 2011 HV71 in Elitserien under contract.

Career

Noah Welch began his career as a hockey player on the team at Harvard University, where he was active from 2001 to 2005. Previously, he had been selected as a high school player in the NHL Entry Draft in 2001 in the second round than a total of 54 players from the Pittsburgh Penguins.

For the Penguins, he was in the 2005/06 season his debut in the National Hockey League, where he scored four points scorer in five games. The rest of the season he spent in Pittsburgh's farm team in the American Hockey League, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. On 27 February 2007 the defender was given in exchange for Gary Roberts to the Florida Panthers, where he spent the next two years in the NHL before he finished the season 2008/ 09 in their league rivals Tampa Bay Lightning. On July 13, 2009 Welch received as a free agent a one-year contract with the Atlanta Thrashers. In his first season in the organization of the Thrashers Welch went for their farm team, the Chicago Wolves, of the AHL on the ice. End of June 2010, these extended his contract by a further season in which Welch was still predominantly active for the Wolves and incidentally also completed two NHL games for the Thrashers. In early July 2011, the Americans got a contract with HV71 of the Elitserien.
