The Norwegian Breakaway is a cruise ship that was built for the American shipping company Norwegian Cruise Line based in Miami / Florida. The ship was handed over in April 2013 and now offers a variety of cruises with departure at the cruise terminal Manhattan.

The ship was built as a type of ship Breakaway class under the hull number S.678 at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg. The focal Start at the first steel plate was made on 21 June 2011, the first of the 73 blocks was lifted on May 4, 2012 in the building dock II the shipyard. The ship was undocked from the construction dock on 26 February 2013. On 13 March, the Norwegian Breakaway left the shipyard to test drive in the North Sea.

The Norwegian Breakaway is currently still the largest ever built in Germany cruise ship. The ship is designed for about 4,000 passengers and equipped with 17 restaurants and 12 bars and lounges. Attractions are, inter alia, a water park, a high ropes course and a nine hole golf course.

The hull painted on the bow comes from the Pop Art artist Peter Max

The sister ship Norwegian Getaway was delivered on 10 January 2014.
