The Norwegian Pearl is a house built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg cruise ship sailing on Norwegian Cruise Line.

History

The ship was transferred on November 7, 2006 on the Ems from Papenburg to Eemshaven ( NL) and delivered there to the NCL on 28 November 2006.

Your maiden voyage took place after Southampton ( UK) on 30 November 2006 in Rotterdam ( NL). From Southampton took place on 2 December 2006, nine days continued crossing of the Atlantic in the U.S. Miami, which later became the base port of the ship, instead. On December 16, 2006, it was christened in Miami; Godmother was the American talk show host Rosie O'Donnell.

From Miami Norwegian Pearl cruises through the Caribbean, in the summer she also runs from Seattle to Alaska. For repositioning between the Pacific and Caribbean rides are offered through the Panama Canal.

Technical details

Trivia

  • In advance of the originally scheduled on 4 November 2006 transfer of the vessel on the Ems, the 380 kV overhead line crossing at Ems Weener was turned off. The shutdown of the line the northwestern German power grid loaded too much and was so trigger a power outage in most of Western Europe, as a result, up to 12 million people were about half an hour without electricity. The ship could not leave Papenburg on this day.
  • On 14 April 2010 this cruise ship passed through the Panama Canal. With $ 375,000, this was the highest channel fee of all time. The price is determined by weight and size of a ship and is on average $ 52,000.
