Det Norske Veritas

IMO no. 9355733

The Norwegian Gem is a finished in autumn 2007 cruise ship in the Panamax class.

On 17 June 2006, the first of the 67 blocks was lifted into the hangar at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg. On September 15, 2007, the viaduct over the River Ems took place. The Norwegian Gem was delivered to the shipping company Norwegian Cruise Line on 1 October 2007 in Eemshaven, Netherlands.

For propulsion and electricity provide five MAN diesel engines, which are directly linked to electricity generators. These in turn supply the electrical system and the two electric Azipod propulsion pods. In combination with three thrusters the ship is thus extremely agile for his size.

The ship has been surveyed with some 93,500 GT. It reaches a speed of 25 knots and is one of the largest and fastest cruise ships of the Panamax class worldwide.

After she regularly sailed the Mediterranean between 2007 and 2010, it remains all year in American waters since 2011. The Bermuda, the Caribbean, Canada and New England are busy.
