The Norwegian Star is a cruise ship in the Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL ), which was completed in 2001 at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg. Originally, the order came for the construction of this ship by the shipping company Star Cruises in Singapore. After this had taken but NCL, it was decided that a ship of this size is better suited to the NCL concept. Therefore, the new principal with NCL, the ship (instead of calling it Super Star Libra and Star Cruises to hand over the management, as was originally planned) now called Norwegian Star and recorded in their own so-called Freestyle Cruising fleet. Trivia

On September 14, 2012, the Norwegian Star collided with the Explorer of the Seas, together at the port of Bermuda after mooring lines of the Norwegian Star, which was slightly damaged in the collision, were broken in strong winds. Both ships could then continue their journey.

The Norwegian Star is a sister ship to Norwegian Dawn and Dawn belongs to the class.
