Novoselytsia Raion

Rajon Nowoselyzja (Ukrainian Новоселицький район / rayon Nowoselyzkyj; romanian Raionul Noua Sulita, Russian Новоселицкий район / Nowoselizki raion, ) is a raion ( administrative district) in the Chernivtsi Oblast, in western Ukraine. The center is the city of Rajons Nowoselyzja. It is bordered to the north by Rajon Chotyn, in the northeast for a short distance to the Rajon Kelmenzi, to the east by Moldova, on the south by Romania, in the southwest on the Rajon Herza, on the west by the Oblasthauptstadt Chernivtsi and in the northwest for a short distance to the Rajon Zastavna.

The Rajon was after the occupation of Northern Bukovina established in 1940 by the Soviet Union, but was rebuilt after the reconquest by the Greater Romania in 1941 until 1944. The eastern part of Rajons is part of the historic landscape Bessarabia, the western part near the town of Chernivtsi until 1918 was part of the Austrian crown land Bukovina. Under Romanian rule 1918-1940, the area of Rajons was divided on the circle and the circle Hotin Cernăuţi.
