Ola John

Ola John (born 19 May 1992 Zwedru ) is a Dutch footballer of Liberian origin, is currently under contract at Benfica, but is active on loan at Hamburger SV, and alludes to the position of the outer striker. His two brothers Collins and Paddy are also football players.

Origin

At the age of two years, John fled with his mother and his two brothers from Liberia to the Netherlands. His father lost his life during the Liberian civil war.

Clubs

FC Twente

From 1998 to 2002 still active for DES Nijverdal, John, like his two brothers arrived in the youth academy of FC Twente. For the 2010/11 season John was appointed to the senior squad and played his first league game ( 15th Round ) 20 November 2010 in the 1-2 defeat at home to AZ Alkmaar. His first goal he scored (Matchday 27 ) 13 March 2011 in a 2-1 victory in the home match against VVV -Venlo with the winning goal in the 83rd minute. In his first season, he completed 13 league games and scored one goal. He also won with FC Twente the KNVB Cup, the Dutch club trophy.

In the 2011/12 season, John developed by its good performance for a regular in Enschede. This season he increased his performances and scored (Matchday 15 ) on 4 December 2011 in a 6-2 win in the away match against FC Utrecht his first Zweifachtorerfolg. In his second season John graduated already 33 of 34 Ligapspielen and scored eight goals. In addition, the FC Twente with the Johan Cruijff Schaal, the, the Dutch Supercup won.

Benfica Lisbon

For the season 2012/13 John joined the Portuguese first division club Benfica, in which he signed a valid contract until 30 June 2017. He and his team reached the final of the Europa League, but was beaten in the final of the Chelsea.

Hamburger SV (loan )

After John in his second season all competitions came to only eight missions at Benfica, he was 2013/14 on loan in January 2014 to the end of the season in the Bundesliga side Hamburger SV. On January 26, 2014 ( 18th Round ) he made his debut in the Bundesliga in the 0-3 defeat at home to FC Schalke 04, as he came on in the 24th minute for Pierre -Michel Lasogga.

National

After John already was used for the Dutch U -17 and U-19 national team, he made his debut on 6 February 2013, the senior team, the Amsterdam a 1-1 draw in the Test match against the national team of Italy achieved. In the same game year he also took part in the European Championship finals in Israel with the U-21 national team. In his three tournament games he scored in a 5-1 victory in the match against the selection of Russia the deficit to intermediate 3:1 in the 69th minute, his first international goal.
