On the Floor is a song by American singer Jennifer Lopez, she has recorded together with the U.S. rapper Pitbull. The song was the first single from Lopez 's seventh studio album Love? and was released on February 11, 2011 by Iceland Records. The song was produced by music producer RedOne. The song reached number one on the charts in many countries such as Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In these countries, the song with the best selling song also became the most successful titles of 2011.

Background

The song first appeared as incidental music for Lopez L' Oreal commercial on the Internet; the official premiere took place during the ceremony of the 68th Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles on January 16, 2011. The song was after the promo single Fresh Out the Oven, the second collaboration between Lopez and Pitbull, who first sang the song on May 5, 2011 during the American TV show American Idol live.

The melody of On the Floor contains interpolated elements from the song Llorando Se Fue music group Los Kjarkas from 1982 that was previously sampled by the band Kaoma Lambada Song in the published in 1989 in the chorus. Exceptionally in the song is the combination of styles of dance music and the removed from the song Llorando Se Fue Latinrythmen.

Criticism

Music critic Bill Lamb of About.com described the song as " Jennifer Lopez governing party rhythm," with " unstoppable dance-pop influence" and "little exotic touch points ". In addition, critics found that the piece of similarity to the House song Stereo Love by Edward Maya.

Music Video

The video for On the Floor was shot on 22 and 23 January 2011 under the direction of film director TAJ Stansberry. For the video shoot an open casting was held to find the right performer. The official premiere took place on March 3, 2011 in the tenth edition of the U.S. talent show American Idol. There, the fans were able to vote on the website of the show for one of three different variants of the final scenes of the video. On YouTube, the clip with more than 735 million clicks is the third most watched video (as of March 5, 2014 ).
