Location
Otten Bach is on the edge of the Swabian Alb at the foot of Hohenstaufen, about ten kilometers from the district town of Göppingen.

The neighboring municipalities are, from the north clockwise beginning, Schwäbisch Gmünd, Donzdorf, Salach Eislingen and Göppingen.

History
Otten Bach was first mentioned in 1275 in the control register liber decimationis of the diocese of Constance documented. It is believed that the place was at first one of the family estates of the Hohenstaufen.
In the following centuries Ottenbach was (mainly individual farms ) of different secular and ecclesiastical lordships ruled until 1806 it came to the house Wuerttemberg. The local rule was by the families of Rechberger (which had the most extensive property), the monastery of Lorch, the collegiate management Oberhofen in Göppingen, the Degenfeld and the house Wuerttemberg.
