Passonfontaine

Passonfontaine is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Passonfontaine is located on 744 m above sea level, 7 km southeast of Valdahon and about 33 km east-southeast of the city of Besançon ( straight line ). The village is located in the Jura, on the southern edge of the basin of Avoudrey, north of the Cret Monniot.

The area of ​​19:49 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The northern part of the area is occupied by the weakly in relief pool of Avoudrey, which has a width of about 4 km and a length of nearly 10 km away and is on average 730 m. It is mainly consisted of arable and meadow land. The plateau has no above-ground rivers, because the rainwater seeps into the karst underground. To the south, the municipality's area extends to the greater area in relief of the Late Jurassic. It is characterized by several parallel, and mostly forested terrain combs ( Bois du Roi, Le Cerneux; heights of Cicon ) and intervening troughs or sinks that are partially vermoort and otherwise have pasture. History

In the 12th century a church in Passonfontaine is mentioned. In the Middle Ages Passonfontaine belonged to the rule Cicon. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France. Since 1998 Passonfontaine member of the 44- villages municipal association Communauté de communes du Pays de Pierre Fontaine - Vercel.

On 1 January 2009 there was a change in the membership of the district municipality. So far, belonging to the district Besançon, all municipalities in the canton came to the district Pontarlier.

Attractions

The present village of Saint-Martin Church was built in 1813. The Big Maison is a stately farm, which was founded around 1520 by the Lords of Cicon.

Population

With 284 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Passonfontaine one of the small communities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 665 persons were still counted ), a slight population growth was recorded since the early 1990s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Passonfontaine until the 20th century, a predominantly by agriculture ( livestock and dairy farming, farming ) and forestry embossed village.
