Pat Carey

Pat Carey (Irish Pádraig Ó Ciardha; born November 9, 1947 in Castlemaine, County Kerry) is an Irish Fianna Fáil politician and since 2010 Minister for Community, Equality and the Irish-speaking areas ( Gaeltacht ).

Biography

Carey was a teacher and vice-principal of a school and most recently a national political career began in 1997 as the candidate of Fianna Fáil for the first time as a member of the lower house ( Dáil Éireann ) was chosen. There he takes after two elections since the constituency of Dublin North -West.

On 20 June 2007 he was Prime Minister ( Taoiseach ) Bertie Ahern, Minister of State in the Ministry of communities, Rural Affairs and the Galt eight and was responsible as a " junior minister" of the drug strategy of the government and affairs of the community.

Following the appointment of Brian Cowen to succeed Ahern he was then on May 7, 2008 Increasing Government Minister in the Ministry of Defence and Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office, where he was also concerned with the special task as Government Chief Whip in the House as well as the citizenship activity agenda.

As part of a Government reshuffle Pat Carey was on 23 March 2010 as the successor of Éamon Ó Cuív finally himself a member of the government as Minister for Community, Equality and Gaeltacht affairs.
