Patty Murray

Patricia Lynn " Patty " Murray ( born October 11, 1950 in Bothell, Washington) is an American politician of the Democratic Party.

Life

Murray was born in 1950 in Bothell, the daughter of Beverly A. McLaughlin and David L. Johns. After leaving school, she studied art at Washington State University, which she graduated in 1972 with a bachelor's degree. After that she worked in a kindergarten.

From 1989 to 1993 Patty Murray was a member of the Senate of Washington; since 1993, it represents the first woman in the history of Washington State in the U.S. Senate. After her 1998 and 2004 was relatively effortlessly successful re-election, she saw herself in the 2010 Senate elections with State Senator Dino Rossi a strong Republican rivals over. Only after two days of counting was Murray's another victory firmly with a vote share of 52 percent. While she was able to win the majority of electoral districts in the west of the state itself, Rossi won in the entire Eastern Washington.

On January 3, 2011 Murray was able to take up her fourth term in the Senate. On this day, she has also taken over by Daniel Akaka chairs the Committee on Veterans Affairs. She is also a member of the Appropriations Committee, among others, and the Budget Committee.

Patty Murray is married and has two children. She lives with her family in Bothell.
