Gregg Harper

Gregg Harper ( born June 1, 1956 in Jackson, Mississippi) is an American politician ( Republican). He represents the state of Mississippi since 2009 in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington.

After his schooling in Pearl Harper first attended the Mississippi College in Clinton, where in 1978 he received his degree in chemistry; 1981 followed the legal examination at the Law School of the University of Mississippi. He subsequently worked as an independent lawyer; later he became a prosecutor in Brandon and Richland.

In 2000, Harper took over the presidency of the Republicans in Rankin County, where he remained until 2008. He took part in the same year at the Republican National Convention, was nominated for the George W. Bush as a presidential candidate. After the presidential election, he was sent as an observer of his party on the controversial Stimmennachzählung in Florida.

On 1 April 2008 Harper won the Republican primary for Congress mandate of not more candidates Chip Pickering. In the election in November of the same year, he sat down with 63 percent of the vote against the Democrats by Joel Gill. Now, since 3 January 2009, he represents the 3rd Congressional District in the House of Representatives, among which, among other parts of his hometown of Jackson and Natchez and Meridian. In January 2011, he took over the chairmanship of the Joint Committee on Printing.
