Percoidei

Perch (Perca fluviatilis)

The Percoidei are a suborder of Perciformes ( Perciformes ). The distinction between the Percoidei of the other sub- systems of the Barschartigen based on bone elements in the skull that are not connected to each other at the Percoidei, but are merged with the other submissions. However, this is considered a primordial feature ( Plesiomorphie ). Since a common primordial feature does not establish closer relationship in the sense of modern phylogenetic systematics, it increasingly takes over from the use of this taxon ( in traditional scope ) distance. In the revision of the teleost systematics by Betancur -R. et al. (2013 ), the taxon, however, redefined, see below.

The group of Percoidei ( traditional scope ) include a number of well known and popular food fish, but also many popular aquarium fish.

Systematics ( phylogenetically )

In Betancur -R. et al. (2013 ), the subordination Percoidei focus much more narrowly, namely as the Percidae with their closest relatives (about 250 species ):

  • Subordination Percoidei True perch ( Percidae )
  • Niphonidae (monotypic )
  • Peter males ( Trachinidae )
