Petr Bříza

Petr Briza ( born December 9, 1964 in Prague, Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czech professional ice hockey goaltender and current - functionary, of the Czechoslovak and three times won the Czech championship as a player with the HC Sparta Prague once. Since 2006 he has worked as General Manager for the HC Sparta Prague.

Career

Petr Briza began his career at Slavia Prague IPS. In 1981 he played for this club in the second Czechoslovak League, before joining the TJ Motor České Budějovice 1983. There he made ​​his debut in the top division, the 1st league. After two years in which he had completed 35 missions for the engine, he was drafted for military service. This he did from the Army Sports Club Dukla Jihlava. During this period he also made ​​his debut in the Czechoslovak national team and completed on 28 February 1986 his first international match in Pribram against the GDR. After his service he returned to České Budějovice. 1989 traded it against Tomas Jelinek Motor Ceske Budejovice Sparta Prague - this was the first major transfer business in the history of the Czechoslovak ice hockey.

With Sparta Prague 1990 he won the Czechoslovak Cup - 36 after the last track for his new club. In 1991 he used the opening of the borders and went to Finland to Rauman Lukko.

Between 1993 and 1999 he played for the EV Landshut in the German Ice Hockey League. He then returned to Sparta Prague and won with these 2000 and 2002, two other titles.

With a shootout in the sixth playoff final match against Slavia Prague ( Full 3-0 ), which also meant the championship for Sparta Prague, he finished on 21 April 2006 his career as an active player.

Bříza has since been working as General Manager for the HC Sparta Prague.

Internationally

Petr Briza took the Czechoslovak and Czech national team three times in the Olympics (Calgary 1988, Albertville 1992 Bronze Medal, Lillehammer 1994) and in six World Cups. In the 1993 World Cup, he was voted the best goalkeeper of the tournament.
