Pier Paolo Bianchi

Pier Paolo Bianchi ( born March 11, 1952 in Rimini, Emilia -Romagna, Italy ) is an Italian former motorcycle racer and three-time world motorcycle champion.

In 2003 Pier the title Commendatore al Merito della Repubblica Italiana dell'Ordine was awarded Paolo Bianchi by then- President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi.

Career

Pier Paolo Bianchi debuted in the motorcycle world championship in 1973 as a wild card rider at the Grand Prix of Nations on Yamaha in the 125 cc class. In the following season, he raced in this championship run, this time on Minarelli, and took third place.

In the 1975 season Bianchi went on Morbidelli permanently in the 125cc class at the start. He reached six second-place finishes in seven races and was behind his compatriot Paolo Pileri Vice World Champion. The following year, in 1976, the Italians won superior to the 125 cc World Championship. With seven victories in nine grands prix he dominated the competition and won superior, with 23 -point lead, before Ángel Nieto.

In the 1977 season, Pier Paolo Bianchi repeated his previous success even more pronounced. With ten races he won seven and reached a total of nine podium finishes. With 131 points he had at the end of the season 26 points clear in the account, as his closest rival, Eugenio Lazzarini. For the 1978 season Bianchi moved back to Minarelli and achieved four victories in the overall standings he finished in third place. The following season he was only WM- tenth.

In 1980 Pier Paolo Bianchi on MBA and won his third 125cc world title. In the following years, he took up several smaller manufacturers and could not win the big successes. In the season 1985 Bianchi was nearing his fourth title win in the 125cc class, but could not go to the start due to an injury at the last round in San Marino and eventually lost the title to his compatriot Fausto Gresini.

After Bianchi won only one race and finished after the 1989 season of his career. Overall, Pier Paolo Bianchi graduated 111 Grand Prix races in the Motorcycle World Championship and won 27 of them.
